Connect, share and learn at the annual LD4D meeting

Join the Livestock Data for Decisions (LD4D) annual community meeting on 9 December 2021

Do you work with livestock data? Do you want to help improve the quantity and quality of livestock data and connect with other data producers and users? Join the Livestock Data for Decisions (LD4D) annual community meeting

About the event

The online meeting will take place on 9 December 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (GMT). The event offers members an opportunity to learn about the latest livestock data innovations, share their latest work, and connect with other members of the community.

Share your work

During the meeting, we will run our popular “Cattle Mart” ideas marketplace sessions, offering our members a chance to share their work in 5 minutes or less. This is a valuable opportunity to get feedback and connect with interested people. Please let us know if you wish to present when you register.

Putting data into use - input needed

Our LD4D community is made up of a global network of experts that support the use of livestock data for decisions. We have members that supply data, members that use data, and many of us do both… but are supply and use always connected? Is the information we generate accessible to decision makers and if so is it useful to them? And who exactly are the ‘decision makers’?

In order to help us address these questions, we are excited to be commissioning a piece of work to better understand which decision makers our community engages with and how we can improve the livestock data they use in decision-making processes.

To kick start this work, we would love to hear from you, our community members, on which data sources you use and how useful you find them. We have put a couple of questions in our registration sign up and would really welcome your input - just answer the survey questions when you register.

About LD4D

Established in 2017, the Livestock Data for Decisions (LD4D) community aims to drive informed livestock decision-making by connecting data producers, data users, livestock advocates, and other key actors from academia, industry, not-for-profit and intergovernmental agencies. Together, we work to make better use of existing data and analysis, and collaborate on new and innovative data solutions. Community outputs such as visualisations, factsheets and datasets, are shared via our data and evidence platform, livestockdata.org.

The LD4D community is hosted and facilitated by the Centre for Supporting Evidence Based Interventions in Livestock (SEBI-Livestock).

Discover our members’ work

In July and August 2021, LD4D hosted a series of learning events to showcase the work of its members. The LD4D Summer Sessions offered unique insights into tools, techniques, and opportunities, with plenty of time for interaction and networking. These 1-hour sessions were aimed at researchers, project implementers, industry and funders who work in livestock development.
