Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Livestock production and greenhouse gases

Livestock production is responsible for the emission of greenhouse gases (principally carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide), contributing to climate change. However, there is evidence that improving production efficiency can provide options for livestock to reduce total human-induced emissions. There is also suggestion that certain livestock production systems can sequester carbon.
