Call for presenters! Digital Innovations for Livestock Development
Do you have a digital innovation that can help solve big livestock challenges? Share your work at the Livestock Data for Decisions (LD4D) virtual event on Digital Innovations for Livestock Development
Please note the window for submitting applications closed on 7 June 2024.
Share your work with a global network of livestock data practitioners!
We are seeking examples from the livestock sector of digital technologies or strategies that can improve and transform decision making anywhere from farm level to global policies, with a focus on low-and middle-income countries. The LD4D Secretariat will select up to 10 innovations that will be highlighted during our virtual events on Digital Innovations for Livestock Development on 31 July and 1 August 2024.
Event objectives
Help LD4D members connect share and learn about digital innovations in the livestock sector that can support better decision-making
Explore lessons, gaps and questions that might inform future LD4D activities
Introduce new and inspiring ideas from outside the livestock sector
Examples of digital innovations
Data collection: Digital tools to improve collection of quantitative and qualitative information at farm level or beyond. This could include for example ‘smart’ measurement and management solutions such as on-farm and remote sensors that generate and transmit data about animal health and production.
Data-driven insights: Digital tools for processing and/or analysing data and information. This could include digital systems to predict and model problems, or analysis tools to generate insights for policy and investment decisions.
Data and evidence communication: Digital tools and approaches to communicate information to livestock keepers, service providers, policy makers, and other decision makers. This could include tools that make data more accessible to livestock keepers (such as mobile apps), or innovative approaches that respond to decision makers’ evidence needs.
Selection criteria
We welcome examples of digital innovations that improve decision-making around priority challenges in the livestock sector in low-and middle-income countries.
Priority challenge areas
Animal Health and Disease Management
Climate Impact and Adaptation
Feed Efficiency and Nutrition
Climate Finance for Livestock Systems
Gender equality
Geographical focus
Innovations can be from anywhere in the world, but priority will be given to innovations from low-and middle-income countries.
Other criteria
Innovations must already be in use, with some documented evidence of impact.
Presentations must show how innovations guide better decisions, ones that support the transition to more sustainable and inclusive livestock systems.
Presentation format
Selected presenters will be asked to prepare a 5-minute pre-recorded video presentation and participate in a live panel discussion during one of the virtual event sessions. If you wish to submit your innovation but are unavailable on those dates, you can ask a colleague to join the live discussion on your behalf.
About LD4D
Livestock Data for Decisions (LD4D) is a worldwide community of members and partners working to improve livestock data and evidence in low-and middle-income countries.
