Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index (WEAI) scores by country

Data around gender in the agricultural sector are crucial for identifying the obstacles and economic constraint that limit women’s contributions to their households and communities.

This visualisation illustrates country scores for the Women’s Empowerment in Agriculture Index (or WEAI), the first-ever  measure to directly capture women’s empowerment and inclusion levels in the agricultural sector. Developed by USAID, the International Food Policy Research Institute, and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative, this innovative tool tracks women’s engagement in agriculture.

This data can help inform the design and implementation of gender-transformative livestock interventions, for example by tracking gender equality, and measuring empowerment, agency and women’s inclusion in agriculture.
