Exploring Gender Integration in Livestock Economic Modeling
The LD4D Gender & Livestock Modeling Solutions Group places gender integration at the heart of livestock economic modelling.
This collaboration brings together gender specialists and livestock modelling experts to openly discuss challenges, share opportunities, and co-develop practical outputs. The solutions group will develop outputs to support planners, policymakers, and donors who are designing gender-inclusive livestock strategies to build sustainable livestock development projects, policies and investments at both local and national scales.
Why integrate Gender into livestock models?
Livestock economic models have historically not reflected gender dynamics and their impacts. Existing projects or policies may often seem to benefit both men and women at first glance, but in reality, they may fail to deliver equitable benefits, or worse, limit women’s access to productive assets and increase their workload. The group will work to identify challenges and practical solutions to bridge this gap in existing models. Bringing a gender perspective to these models can support the creation of more sustainable livestock investments.
Who is involved?
The Gender & Livestock Solutions Group unites a diverse community of livestock and gender experts shaping livestock strategies and investment. This multidisciplinary collaboration ensures a comprehensive and effective approach to advancing gender-inclusive livestock development.
