Join the LD4D Steering Committee and make data work for sustainable livestock development

The Livestock Data for Decisions (LD4D) network is looking for dynamic leaders to join our Steering Committee and help guide our global community toward greater impact

About the Role

Joining our Steering Committee means becoming part of a vibrant community dedicated to improving evidence-based decision making in livestock systems. You'll collaborate with leaders from around the world, bringing your unique perspective to help shape our network's future and amplify our impact across the global development landscape.

What We're Looking For

Do you share our passion for supporting sustainable livestock systems by leveraging data to inform strategies? We'd love to hear from you if you bring:

Alignment and Commitment

  • Strong alignment with the LD4D’s mission and values.
  • Capacity to commit time and expertise to actively shape the network’s strategic direction. This includes active participation in four quarterly Steering Committee meetings annually (mostly online), support to fundraising and other strategic activities, and engagement in LD4D key initiatives, including webinars and Solutions Groups.
  • Experience working across low-and middle-income countries and with an international, multidisciplinary team to address global challenges.

Experience and Expertise

  • Senior-level experience in livestock, agriculture or climate finance, ideally in executive, director, or equivalent roles.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic direction, including setting vision, long-term goals, and organisation-wide priorities.
  • Experience on advisory boards, steering committees, or other governance bodies is an asset.

Funding and Donor Relations

  • Established relationships in the donor community, with the ability to leverage these connections to attract funding.
  • Experience establishing successful partnerships with various stakeholders, including private sector, government, international cooperation agencies.

What Makes You Stand Out

While not essential, we're excited about candidates who can bring:

  • Extensive experience securing funding from diverse sources, including foundations, bilateral donors, corporate partners and multilateral agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a spokesperson at high-profile events, in media engagements, or in other public-facing roles.
  • Familiarity with or experience in data-driven approaches and digital innovations in agriculture or livestock sectors.
  • A strong understanding of gender and social inclusion issues in livestock, agricultural development or climate finance.

How You'll Make an Impact

As a Steering Committee member, you'll support:

  • Strategic Direction and Vision: help refine our vision for the LD4D network and advice on strategic activities and priorities.
  • Partnership Building: facilitate building bridges between sectors and fostering partnerships that drive innovation.
  • Fundraising and Resource Mobilisation: open doors to new funding opportunities and resources through your networks, provide guidance on diversifying LD4D’s donor base, and contribute to refining the LD4D Financial Sustainability Strategy.
  • Governance and Oversight: ensure our network stays true to its mission through thoughtful governance and accountability, and participate in regular meetings (in-person and online).
  • Representation and Outreach: be a dedicated ambassador for LD4D, sharing our missions, values and story with the world, including in key events.

Growing Together

We believe in the power of diverse perspectives. We particularly welcome applications from experts based in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Representation across geographies and sectors as well as gender parity will be an essential part of LD4D’s Steering Committee composition.
